Who’s that boy? Belarus Chooses Its Entry For Junior Eurovision 2016

On Saturday, August 27, Belarus had a serious decision to make. And here it is – Alexander Minenok was chosen to represent Belarus in the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song Музыка моих побед (Music of my Victories).

Alexander Minenok will represent Belarus in the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

The winner was determined by a 50/50 combination of professional jury and public telephone votes. Belarus has participated in every edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since the show was launched in 2003.

In 13 years of JESC young singers from Belarus have been quite successfull: they have ranked lower than 5th place only five times, so Belarus is actually first in the overall ranking of all the member countries.

The national final was hosted by Olga Ryzhikova and Teo.

Belarus has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and 2007 and hosted the event in Minsk in 2010.

In the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Sofia Belarus came 4th with Ruslan Aslanov.  He opened the show on Saturday by performing his entry, Volshebstvo (Magic).

Olga Ryzhikova hosted the final alongside Teo, who represented Belarus in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

The show was opened by Ruslan Aslanov, who represented Belarus in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015.

Ten acts competed for the right to represent Belarus in the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest which takes place in Valletta, Malta on 20th November. Three young performers came from Mogilev, a band So-Ni-Ka arrived from Vitebsk and six entries were from Minsk. Some of them have already participated in the national final before.

A happy Alexander Minenok said that he did not expect to win, though, naturally, had replayed that scenario in his head.

“How will I celebrate? I’ll go to McDonald’s and dring a lot of Cola! And then I will get down to work”, the winner said.
