Belarus is not normally the easiest country to visit as you need to get hold of a visa whenever you are traveling there. Well, until recently.

For the fans of the 2nd European Games 2019, there is a special visa-free regime that grants visa-free entry to Belarus from 10 June till 10 July 2019.

The participants, officials and organizers can come to Belarus visa-free from 20 May till 10 July 2019.

The new visa-free regime procedure applies to citizens of 98 countries and is similar to the one active in Belarus during the 2014 IIHF World Championship.

To enter the country without a visa, one will need to have a valid competition ticket, and a valid document for entry and insurance.

From Russia to Belarus

A significant number of overseas sports fans are expected to attend Minsk 2019 via Russia.

In that regard, Russia has ratified an agreement enabling visa-free travel on its territory for foreigners arriving for the European Games.

The agreement will allow foreigners and stateless persons to attend international sporting events in one of the two states.

They will be able to enter, stay and transit through the territory of Russia without a visa. Mind that to use that option one should aquire a Fan ID.

The agreement will be valid till 10 July 2019. Belarus looks forward to welcoming up to  30,000 tourists and over 11,000 participants.


Anyone from any country can buy tickets for the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 via ticкetpro.by from 1 March 2019.

At the moment over 50% tickets for the opening and closing ceremony of the 2nd European Games have already been sold.

Track and field competitions, beach soccer, rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatics, karate are also very popular. Tickets are also available in ticket offices in the run-up to the games.

People with disabilities can purchase tickets 10% of the full price, but there’s a catch – they will be able to get it only after presenting a passport and a certificate of a disabled person.

Fixed prices

Worried about jacking up the prices? Well, don’t, local hotels, cafes, bars and taxi service operators will fix prices just before the start of the Games.

“In Europe major events usually inflate hotel prices by two or three times. We’ve decided to limit price growth. 

We are confident the event will proceed flawlessly,” Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Mikhail Portnoi said.

So far 15 major taxi companies signed the memorandum on the guaranteed level of tariffs on their services. From 15 June to 5 July 2019 they will bear a special logo.

Two months to go

The European Games is a world-class multi-sport event that celebrates Europe’s finest athletes on their road to the Olympic Games.

Special corridors will appear at border checkpoints for participants and fans. Besides, traffic lanes will be set up on key routes during the 2nd European Games in Minsk.

Besides, it is planned to improve 3G and 4G coverage along major streets and ensure cyber security of users.

The sports programs will be broadcasted in nine languages. Organizers, guests, and participants will go on air to share their stories.

Belarusian policemen also prepare to welcome foreign guests, in the run-up to the Games they took up English language courses.
