There are 456 centenarians in Belarus, according to the latest information provided by the ministry of labour and social protection.
The figures suggest women are still outnumbering men when it comes to reaching milestone birthdays — 401 women and 55 men have celebrated their 100th anniversary this year.
As of 1 July, there were seven people over 110 in Belarus. Two of them living in Grodno and Minsk regions were born at the dawn of the last century and can be called super long-livers. Now they are 115 and older.
Grodno region is traditionally among the leaders in Belarus in the number of long-livers: as of 1 July this year, there were 97 people over 100. Minsk and Vitebsk regions go second with 70 centenarians and Gomel is third with 62 oldest citizens.
Brest oblast is home to 59 people who have already celebrated their 100th birthday. There are 65 long-livers in Gomel region, 51 in the city of Minsk, and 47 in Mogilev region.
