PHOTOS: Waltz On Water And Helicopter Jumps. Minsk Marks Paratroopers’ Day

Each year on 2 August, current and former members of Belarus’s Airborne Troops meet up to raise a drink or two to each other’s achievements, remember good old times and fallen comrades. This is what Paratroopers’ Day looked like in Minsk this year.

While Belarusian paratroopers marked the 90th anniversary of the airborne troops on 2 August, this year the main festivities took place a day earlier. Local parachutists put on a military show at the main venue near the Sports Palace.

They parachuted from a helicopter to the Svisloch river, showed hand-to-hand combat training and combat episodes. The most spectacular part of the show was, perhaps, the “waltz of armoured personnel carriers on the water”. Here’s a look at this year’s festivities:
