Beat Outdoor Spots For Music, Theatre And Film 2019 Summer

Summer 2019 is going to be hot and we are not planning to spend it indoors and you shouldn’t too. Get the scoop on all the top open-air films, music and theatre happening this year and don’t forget the sunscreen.


Concerts in Botanical Garden

Whether you’re a fan of jazz or Belarusian folk, classical orchestras or improvisation, you’re sure to enjoy a balmy June’s weather relaxing to live music in the great outdoors.

Pack a picnic, bring along your family and friends to soak up extra hours of daylight or the warmth of summer evenings depending on your music tastes and biorhythms.

Guests are also welcome to bring own food and drinks or can enjoy the open-air street food treats. Dances, various shows, master classes, and board games are also on the list. Check the timeline and program of the events here.

Outdoor film screenings 

The VII open-air festival of silent cinema and contemporary music Kinemo will be held in Minsk from 13 June to 11 July (on Fridays).

Enjoy silver screen classics with the voice-over of Belarusian and foreign musicians under the stars at a special outdoor film screening.

Grab a rug, warm clothes and get stuck into the local version of an American drive-in at the courtyard of the museum-workshop of Zair Azgur at 10 pm.

Tickets (BYN 10/~$5) can be purchased in advance online or on the day of the show at the museum’s box office (Tues-Sat 10 am-5 pm, on screening days until 10.30 pm)

Another option is to go watch the works of young Belarusian directors on Kastryčnickaja street at OK 16 absolutely free! After the screenings, one has a chance to discuss the movies with their creators.

There is no full program yet, the screenings will be on weekends, twice a month. The first show is on 16  June. Monitor the schedule on Facebook and Vkontakte.

Food, music and movies

For an evening of music, tasty food and movies combined, why not take in an al fresco at Pesochnitsa? Settle down in the summer sunshine and enjoy yourself surrounded by locals.

Join the crowd of local party goers and hungry street food hunters at Kuibysheva street. The entry is free, look for food sets for 7 BYN (~$3,5), hookah area and the weekend market.

Open-air theatre in Nesvizh

Admirers of classical music, opera and ballet, you are welcome to be enthralled by the soaring voices and passionate tales at one of the most beautiful heritage locations of the country.

The Evenings of the Bolshoi Theater at the Radziwill Castle will be held in Nesvizh from 14 to 16 June. Choose the concert for your taste and book tickets here.

Don’t want to leave Minsk to watch some cool theatre performances? Don’t, No Stage is is a theater festival held in the Upper Town every Saturday starting 1 June.

Street theaters, children’s art studios, dancers, mimes and other artistically gifted people will perform at Revaliucyjnaja and Kamsamol’skaja intersection from 5 pm to 10 pm. The schedule is here.

Music everywhere

Season 2019 promises to be fire. What else to expect? Fancied by many Classics at the Town Hall (from 8.30 pm to 11 pm on 20 July, 27 July, 3 August 3, 10 August, 17 August, 31 August).

Jazz Evenings (22 June: Tutu Puoane Belgian Quartet from South Africa, Nicola Conte from Italy, 29 June: saxophonist Magnus Lindgren from Sweden and the Icelandic Mezzoforte band, 6 July: the two-time Grammy nominee Joey DeFrancesco and the Baylor Project).

20 Hot Things To Do In Belarus In Summer

Peshehodka, as well as the Days of National Cultures, are guaranteed. A holiday of Polish culture is on 15 June, of British culture is on 23 June, Italian is on 13 July, Korean is on 3 August.

Estonian culture festival will take place on 19 August, Ukrainians will have their turn on 17 August. The festival of Georgian culture, aka Tbilisoba-2019, is on 24 August, Armenian is on 31 August.

Festivals of Azerbaijani culture is on 7 September, Moldavian is on 8 September, Greek is on 21 September, Jewish is on 22 September and Chinese is on 28 September. The fests usually take place from 1 pm to 5 pm at Plošča Svabody.
