MFA: No Belarusians Among Plane Crash Victims At Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport

According to the currently available information from Belarus MFA, there are no Belarusian citizens among the victims of the plane crash at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport.

At least 41 people were killed as a result of a crash landing on Sunday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently does not have any info about Belarusians among the victims, it told journalists. The ministry expressed condolences to families and friends of all the victims, the message on Twitter reads.

At least 41 people were killed as a result of a fiery crash landing of a Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ100) passenger plane at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on Sunday evening.

The Aeroflot plane flying to Murmansk from Sheremetyevo requested an emergency landing soon after take-off.  The plane was carrying 73 passengers and five crew members. The jet touched down and sped along a runway on 5 May, with huge flames and black smoke pouring from its fuselage.

The crew started emergency evacuation the moment the plane had reached a stop.

Immediately after the disaster, the media were reporting 13 dead. After midnight, the spokesperson for Russia’s Investigative Committee Elena Markovskaya announced 41 victims.

A criminal case has been opened.
