Ten trainsets with a total of 44 metro cars will be entirely produced by the Belarusian enterprise Stadler Minsk.
The company, which is a part of the Swiss Stadler Rail Group, plans to supply the first train in 2018.
According to the contract, Stadler will supply six four-wagons and four five-wagons trains by the end of 2020.
The trains are equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system. The warranty period – is 560 thousand kilometers.
First trains were spotted at the International Innovation Forum for Passenger Transport in St Petersburg on October 18-20.
The new enterprise for the production of railway vehicles was launched in November 2014.
“The launching of the plant “Stadler Minsk” in Fanipol has a special significance”, President Alexander Lukashenko, who visited the opening ceremony, said.
“This is a direct investment of a foreign enterprise which has come to Belarus with its export market and is ready to seek new markets”, added the president.
