Nadezhda Skardino Wins Gold In Biathlon World Cup

Nadezhda Skardino has claimed gold in Women Individual at Biathlon World Cup Stage 1 in Östersund, Sweden, on Wednesday, November 30.

The Belarusian athlete earned her first career victory in the biathlon World Cup by winning a women’s 15-kilometer individual race.

Nadezhda won by 2.9 seconds from Norway’s Synnoeve Solemdal and 12.0 seconds ahead of Ukraine’s Juliya Dzhyma, who also both shot clean.

A few minutes after her victory, Nadezhda Scardino received congratulations from Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

Your brilliant success was achieved through diligence and strong will for victory, and it gave all Belarusians wonderful moments of joy and pride for their country.

This is your first gold at the World Cup stages, which gives our team hope and confidence in their abilities at the beginning of the Olympic season,” the statement  reads.

The president also wished Nadezhda and the entire national team good health, plentry of luck, and new victories.

The competition will continue with the 20 km men’s individual race on Thursday,  30 Novemeber.
