Starting 8 December new comfortable diesel trains purchased in Poland will start running between Minsk and Vitebsk.
Three modern trains have already arrived in Minsk and are currently undergoing certification tests. Another three will start carryng passengers next year.
New diesel trains will operate at non-electrified areas such as Minsk – Vitebsk, Minsk – Grodno, and Minsk – Mogilev.
Diesel trains will run three times a day in both directions. Travel time is three hours, it is 30 minutes faster compared to the already running Vitebsk-Minsk fast train.
Ticket price is the same as for the reserved seat in a fast Vitebsk-Minsk train, which is BYN 13 (about $6,5 or €5,8.)
The exact time of departure of the fast diesel trains is yet unknow, it will be made public as soon as new schedule is introduced.
The Belarusian Railways promise to provide its passengers with the stress-free business-travelling environment: information boards, air conditioners, and the internet included.
