President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko accepted the invitation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to visit the 2nd Forum of Regions in Zhytomyr, the Ukrainian ambassador to Belarus informed.
The two presidents will meet in Ukraine in autumn.
Zelensky’s invitation to Lukashenko was part of the message to congratulate the Belarusian leader on Independence Day. Most likely, the autumn’s meeting will be the first meeting of Lukashenko with Ukraine’s 6th president.
The 1st Forum of Regions took place last October in Belarusian Homel. The event attended by ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. During the meeting of the two presidents, it was determined that the next forum would be held on the territory of Ukraine.
Earlier in July, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a message to the Russian president Vladimir Putin inviting the latter to Minsk to hold talks on eastern Ukraine.
“I think Alexander Lukashenko would gladly host us in Minsk. We are not changing or rejecting any diplomatic format. We are offering to talk,” Zelensky said.
Kremlin said it would consider the request.
