On 2 July, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko particularly commended the work of doctors who are now on the coronavirus frontline during the state awards ceremony in Minsk, the press-service of the president reports.
The president also stressed that Belarus has demonstrated political sanity and folk wisdom.
“Healthcare workers are now on the frontline fighting the coronavirus infection. Our healthcare system hold its ground. But we keep fighting although we can say already that we have won. After the final victory over COVID-19, we will meet with our doctors who are on the frontline today,” said the head of state.
The awardees are Professor Vladimir Korik, the military field surgeon, who performs unique surgeries to save lives, and Rector of Grodno Medical University Professor Viktor Snezhitsky.
According to the Healthcare Ministry, 62,698 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Belarus as of 2 July. The daily increase of new infections is 274 cases per day.
