The seasonal checkpoint Lesnaya-Rudavka re-opened at Belarus-Poland border on 1 May, GrodnoNews reports.
Crossing on bicycles, yachts, canoes, boats, houseboats and on foot.
Lesnaya-Rudavka will operate from 8 am to 8 pm daily till 1 October.
First tourists to enter Belarus through Lesnaya were cycling tourists from Warsaw Patrick Kazanecki and Malgorzata Stawicka.
“When we were in Druskininkai (Lithuania – note BelarusFeed), we saw booklets inviting tourists to Grodno. There we learned it is possible to come visa-free, and we decided to take advantage of it,” the tourists told the local media.
The couple is in Belarus for the first time and plans to see Grodno and its major sights until 3 May.
New tourist offers at Augustow Canal
During summer season 2018 Lesnaya-Rudavka served over 3,000 people. 60% of foreigners who traveled through the checkpoint were visa-free tourists to Grodno region.
The number of the latter in Grodno region and Augustow Canal park has already exceeded 30,000 since the beginning of 2019. Tourists came from over 30 countries.

Around 40% of tourists spend two or more days in Grodno and the region. The factor constraining tourist flows is the lack of the new tourist objects and infrastructure.
At the same time, travelers at Augustow Canal constantly get new offers from the tourist authorities. For example, a mobile app for visitors is coming up, GrodnoNews was told. Besides, there are plans to open bike rentals in Lesnaya-Rudavka and information center in Sopotskin.
