First Inclusive Beach Appears At Minsk Sea. See What It Looks Like

PlyazhIK is Belarus’s first fully inclusive beach, which appeared thanks to the instructor for active rehabilitation and the Social Weekend project. The beach for people of all abilities was officially opened at Zaslawskaye Reservoir on 9 May.

In 2019 TUT.BY wrote that the beach will be equipped for wheelchair users, paved with wooden walkways and have changing rooms with ramps, a pier and an open area for crossfit. The project became the finalist of Social Weekend and was awarded 5,000 rubles.

The beach was also designed for mothers with small children, elderly people who have recently suffered a stroke, and temporarily disabled people. Denis Vasilevich got the idea after his business trips to Russia and Ukraine, where he saw similar projects.

Beach No. 9 was the most suitable for creating an inclusive environment: a shallow beach, a sanatorium and a city bus is running nearby. There is a floating pontoon with a path to the exit, a place of rest – a table with a bench on a wooden flooring with a ramp.

In addition, a chemical closet for wheelchair users and a special dressing room with wide doors were installed on the beach. Denis Vasilevich and Chairman of the National Assosiation of wheelchair users Evgeny Shevko still have a lot of ideas to implement.

A parking for disabled, paths to parking lots, a canopy above the place of rest, adapted sunbeds and many other amenities are yet to created.
