Women Almost Equal To Men In Belarus, Global Gender Gap Report 2018 Says

Global Gender Gap Report 2018 ranked Belarus on 28 place – as high as Spain and the Netherlands.

The country is ahead of many CIS countries when it comes to gender equality.

Belarus has closed the gender gap by 74,7%, according to the Global Gender Gap Report.

Women in Belarus have equal opportunity with men when it come to economic participation (6th place globally). Still the gender parity in education and political empowerment between women and men in Belarus is still low (49th and 74th places respectively).

The country did rather well in the regional subranking, having outperformed Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

Two neighbor countries ranked higher than Belarus in the gender index. Latvia is 17th with 75.8%, and Lithuania is four positions higher than Belarus with 74.9%.

Belarus generally ranks high in the global reports on safety, family and kids upbringing, and quality of living for exparts.

However, the country traditionally has poor results when it comes to freedom, wealth and economy, and attitude to the LGBT people.
