More than 200,000 foreigners have visited Minsk since the beginning of the year. This is three times less than for the same period last year, when the planet had no clue what the coronavirus is, Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
In January-June 2020, more than 200 thousand foreign citizens visited Minsk. Last year over 600,000 foreigners visited the Belarusian capital during the same period.
“The migration flow has temporarily decreased due to the epidemiological situation,” said Inna Studenichnik, the head of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Municipal Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Foreign visitors came to Belarus’s capital to work, study, rest, have treatment, to participate in various events, spend some time as tourists and just visit friends.
Recall that earlier Belarus extended the period of stay of foreign nationals to 90 days and if necessary, beyond this period. A foreign national should apply to the Citizenship and Migration Department at the place of stay (registration) or at Minsk National Airport.
Recall that in July 2018, the period of visa-free stay of foreigners was increased to 30 days, provided that they come through Minsk National Airport. To know wat is life for foreign guests who got stuck in Belarus during the pandemic, read our text titled This Place Is Paradise.
