As spring weather is in full swing, the Pripyat River has burst its banks. Warming temperatures, increased precipitation and snowmelt caused traditional flooding in the Turov, Zhitkovichi and Petrikov area.
And while for locals and agriculture the flood has few benefits, the beauty of the floodwaters in Polesie is unarguably breathtaking. No wonder, the majestic sunsets against the background of a large-scale flood and the size of the territory gave this seasonal phenomenon a beautiful name – the Sea of Herodotus. The TUT.BY photojournalists spent last weekend observing the big water and its forced neighbourhood with people. Please, enjoy these photos with us!
