Egypt Determined To Open Embassy In Belarus Soon

Egypt wants to open the embassy in Minsk, Speaker of the Egyptian parliament Ali Abdel Aal said on 14 October.

The Egyptian side hopes it might happen soon, BelTA reports.

Egyptian and Belarusian officials met on the sidelines of the 137th IPU Assembly in Russian Saint Petersburg.

“What regards the opening of the Embassy of Egypt in Minsk, this matter is of great importance to us. We are determined to implement this project,” Ali Abdel Aal said.

According to him, at present there are no other obstacles to it but for the unfavorable economic situation in Egypt.

“But we hope things will improve in the near future, and we will be able to execute our plans,” the official added.

He also voiced hopes for the development of interparliamentary relations and invited Belarusian officials to pay a visit to Egypt.

Belarus has been expanding its diplomatis ties in recent years.

In December 2016 the Belarusian embassies opened in Spain and Georgia; while in 2017 honorary consulates appeared in Oman and French Bordeaux.

As for the foreign embassies in Belarus, the diplomatic representations of the two European states – Austria and the Netherlands – appered in Minsk.
