A direct train linking Brest and Hungary’s capital of Budapest will start running mid-December 2019, Zviazda reports.
An eagerly awaited train will bear the name of Stephen Báthory and have passenger cars with stops in Vienne and Prague.
The news was made public during the negotiations between the leadership of the Belarusian and Polish State Railways.
The official start date is yet unknown, direct rail services will begin immediately after the approval of the timetable for 2019-2020.
Note that a temporary train from Brest to Warsaw will be launched ahead of the 2nd European Games in Minsk. Starting mid-December the route will become regular.

By the end of the year, direct trains between Brest and Warsaw will run twice a day. Rail operators believe that the direct route, connecting two cities, will make it easier fans from Western and Central Europe to come to Belarus.
