COVID-19 In Belarus: 72,141 Infected, 179 New Cases Per Day

As of 2 September, 72,141 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Belarus. The number of new cases is 179 per day, the Healthcare Ministry reports

70,900 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals (+294 patients in the 24 hours). A total of 691 coronavirus patients have died (+5 in the 24 hours) since the outbreak. Belarus has conducted 1,543,966 tests (+9,174 in the 24 hours).

That is there are 550 COVID-19 infected people in the country at the moment.

The Healthcare Ministry projects a second wave of COVID-19 in November-December. However, recommendations for Belarusians on social distancing, wearing protective masks and washing hands are still in force.

Belarus plans to take part in the third phase of testing of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus. People will be offered to get vaccinated on voluntary terms. Meanwhile, the Healthcare Ministry is preparing for a flu vaccination.

Experts are convinced that, given the coronavirus pandemic, it is important to get vaccinated against influenza to reduce the risk of infection. The influenza vaccination campaign was shifted to mid-September before a possible rise in the incidence of coronavirus infection.
