The clerics of the Belarusian Orthodox Church took flight over the skies of Belarus to ‘plead with Lord’ over deadly virus, Sobor.by reports.
On 2 April, Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus flew over Belarus’ borders to bless and protect the country from an outbreak of coronavirus.
Carrying a revered copies of the cross of St. Euphrosyne, mother superior of Polotsk, and the Zhirovichi icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as a pectoral cross, the priest along with other clergy flew for three hours.
“Participants of the air procession offered prayers for stopping the spread of coronavirus infection,” the article reads.
Before the flight, the head of the BOC sent an appeal to the clergy and believers “to offer special prayers for the granting of God’s mercy to our people and the cessation of the spread of deadly cases.”
Recall that Metropolitan Pavel sprinkled Minsk with holy water from a helicopter on 23 March.
