It’s the most wonderful time of the year — nearly. It may still be a few weeks before Christmas and New Year, but Minsk is already getting into the festive spirit.
No need to go to Prague, Warsaw or Lviv anymore! The free-entrance Christmas market with street food, sweet treats and mulled wine will open near Komarovka market on 21 December. It will stay open until 1 January.
An alley of 24 winter houses, a Christmas tree, glowing retro lights and traditional Belarusian frost will bring the festive atmosphere to the city. Transformed into a winter wonderland, the fair will host stalls selling unique Christmas trees and presents handmade by local artisans, souvenirs, toys, accessories, decorations and many more.
“We wanted to arrange such a fair long time ago, but managed to coordinate it only now, for the first time in five years. The idea was to make people want to stay home instead of going abroad,” says Eugeniya Orlova, the organizer of the fair.
To keep its guests warm and happy, non-alcoholic sbiten, cocoa and winter teas, as well as hot bread, honey and other organic food will be provided. By the way, if you are coming to Belarus, you are twice as likely to celebrate Christmas, since we have two of them.
