Some brands are consciously choosing historic buildings for character and value. Last month the biggest hostel in the country opened its doors for its first guests. Welcome to Urban!
Urban hostel occupies downtown historic building located in the very center of Minsk. The building of the 19th century has preserved many historical and cultural features such as original colour, brickwork, chimneys and windows of different sizes.
“This is the largest hostel in Belarus: a stand-alone three-story building, a shop, a reception, a laundry room and a conference room,” the owners of the hostel say. They also note that there is no kitchen, this was done intentionally to spare numerous guests from smells.
The 740m2 hotel has 24 rooms that can accommodate to up to 110 people. Many hostel services are available not only for its residents, but also for Minsk dwellers. For instance, there is an infrared sauna at BYN 20 (~$10 or €9) per hour for a company of four people, a cafe, a conference room is available for rent.
Hostel prices for a bed in an eight-bed room start from BYN 20 (~$10 or €9) to BYN 80 (~$40 or €35) for a bed in separate room. Don’t forget to take a photo or two for Instagram, local designer Anton Shappo will appreciate.
