American magazine US News & World Report has created a ranking of the best countries for women. It includes 80 states and Belarus is among them, of course.
The Best Countries for Women is a perception-based ranking based on the responses of nearly 9,000 women.
The ranking is derived from a compilation of five equally weighted country attributes: care about human rights, gender equality, income equality, progress and safety.
Each country was also given an equally-weighted score across five attributes: care about human rights, gender equality, income equality, progress, and safety.
Unsurprisingly, Scandinavian countries dominated the list: Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Norway and the Netherlands top the list.
What about Belarus?
Out of 80 states, Belarus was ranked 48th, just behind Chile, Vietnam and Peru, but ahead of South Africa, Turkey and Mexico. Incidentally, in the last year ranking, our country occupied the 38th position.
Of the countries closest to Belarus, Poland was ranked the 22nd, Latvia – 29th, Lithuania – 34th, Russia – 37th, Ukraine – 66th. Recall that in the annual Best Countries Report, Belarus was ranked 73rd.
