Unstoppable Belarusian Wins Facebook Hacker Cup For 3rd Year In A Row

Gennady Korotkevich, a Gomel-born programmer, has won three consecutive Facebook Hacker Cups, Facebook’s global coding competition, in Dublin, ITMO.news reports.

Over 600 programmers from around the world took part in the qualification round – only 24 of them reached the final. Participants had to find a solution to a set of algorithmic problems using any programming language and development environment.

This year it was necessary to solve six tasks. Gennady Korotkevich, an ITMO University graduate and a multiple winner of international programming competitions, solved all six tasks faster than his rivals, receiving 100 points.

The top three included Mikhail Ipatov, a Moscow State University student and last year’s winner of the tournament, and Peter Mitrichev, a Russian programmer who won Facebook Hacker Cup in 2011, 2013 and 2017.

Korotkevich is one of the most titled sports programmers in the world. The Belarusian brainiac is a two-time winner of the ICPC programming World championship (2013 and 2015), six-time winner of the Google Code Jam, five-time winner of Yandex Algorithm, and other contests.
