Belarus is very well-known for its love of potatoes and everything cooked with potatoes. So locals actually threw a party this weekend to celebrate their favourite food.
Sunday marked the second celebration – the first one was held back in 2014 – of the Belarus delicacy known locally as draniki.
The event called Dranik-fest was held in the ethnographic complex “Zelenaya Roshcha” (“Green Grove”) in Mogilev.
Organizers said Dranik-fest attracted over 10 thousand visitors – no wonder, considering that all the pancakes were free!
Guess how much potato was eaten at Dranik-fest? Almost 1000 kilograms!
Four teams competed in cooking the most delicious draniki, drawing longest queues for tastings.
Those who didn’t want to wait in lines made themselves comfortable on the loans to listen to music, take pictures and leave their comments and wishes on a huge poster.
The organizers said that they plan to make the celebration international and more large-scale next year.
