True Eurovision fans know that the true genius (read: madness) comes in the national selections, where the most unique songs battle to represent their countries.
Belarus’ preparations for Eurovision 2019 in are well and truly underway as well. The country’s fortune will be handed to one of the ten finalists who will raise the Belarusian flag in Tel Aviv.
Ten finalists to represent Belarus at the international song contest were announced after the national selection in Minsk on Tuesday, 5 February. This year Belarus has its national selection open to acts worldwide, with 113 singers from 16 countries competing in the auditions.
They came from the UK, Italy, Spain, Israel, Canada, Latvia, Nigeria, the US, Israel, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Italy, to name a few.
This year, the public is not be involved in the artist and song selection, as this is made by an expert jury only. All 10 competing acts are going to film and release short videos in the days to come.
The final show will take place before 8 March as a live TV show. Belarus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and has made it to the final on five occasions.
