Earlier this week First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Gennady Kazakevich had declared readiness of security forces to use special gear and military weapons against protesters. Today, Head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nikolai Karpenkov said: “We will humanely use weapons against them, including firearms.”
The radicals who are organised as organized crime groups of the 90s take part in protest actions. This was stated by Head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nikolai Karpenkov in an interview with Belarus 1.
“The soldiers of the colour revolution are ‘zmagary’ [freedom fighters]: there are no real men who love their homeland. They are organised as criminal groups of the 90s. They want to use social mobility of bandits, previously convicted people to rise in society and become either warlords or deputies, as Tikhanovskaya generously promises them,” said Karpenkov.
According to the official, these people participate in protests and to make money. He also said that he had seen “all the protest masses” at the elections since 2001, “but have never met such immoral, cynical persons, who are taking part in protests today”.
“But we believe in the humanity of the law, we will detain them. Of course, if they actively resist, we will have to use weapons in order to protect citizens, protect law and order, protect ordinary people, those children who are growing up, so that they do not see this bacchanal. We will not let them destroy the country.
We, of course, will humanely use weapons against them, including firearms, and we will remove the most dangerous sharp-hoofed animals from the streets,” Karpenkov said. He specified that firearms will be used against anyone “who raises a hand with a shiv on a law enforcement officer.”
