The honorary consulate of Belarus in the Sultanate of Oman opened on 21 March during the visit of Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei to the country.
The official ceremony was attended by top officials of Oman, diplomats and representatives of business circles.

“The appointment of a well-known Omani businessman Qais Al Yousef as the Belarusian Honorary Consul will play an important role in boosting bilateral political, trade, economic, investment and business ties,” Belarusian MFA said in a statement.
Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei paid a visit to Oman on 20-21 March.
Vladimir Makei met with Yusuf bin Alawi, the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, to talk over bilateral relations in the political, economic and investment areas, and also education, science and culture.
Belarus’ economic potential was presented at the meeting between Vladimir Makei and Omani businessmen who were invited to take part in the implementation of investment projects in Belarus.

The Belarusian minister held a number of other meetings with top Omani officials.
