Belarus Opens Embassy In Sweden

An official ceremony to open the Belarusian embassy in Sweden took place in Stockholm on Wednesday, 15 November.

Five years after Belarus closed its embassy in Stockholm following a bilateral diplomatic row, there’s hope for mending of strained relationship.

The resumption were corroborated by the reopening of the embassy in the heart of the Swedish capital.

The parties’ representatives at the event discussed the prospects of cooperation in the political, trade and economic sectors.

The strengthening of the dialogue between Belarus and the EU was also on the agenda.

Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko and State Secretary to the Minister for EU Affairs and Trade of Sweden Oscar Stenstrom attended the ceremony.

The Belarusian-Swedish ministerial consultations were also held on the same day.

The Swedish delegation was led by Annika Soder, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, both countries are preparing for the Eastern Partnership summit which is due in Brussels on 24 November.
