Belarus has expelled deputy director of the Latvian War Museum, Juris Ciganovs, the Latvian public television reported on Monday.
Juris Ciganovs was heading to an international scientific conference in Minsk but was not allowed to cross the country’s border.
Despite the fact that it was Belarusian side that invited Ciganovs to come, he was deported to Vilnius. The historic confirmed the fact in an interview with the television.
At the airport, he learned that he is not allowed to enter the country since he is included in Russia’s blacklist that also applies to Belarus.
This is not the first incident of this kind. In January, the border guards refused to let Olga Vale, the coordinator of the programs of the Swedish Foino media institute, into Belarus.
Her name is also in Russia’s blacklist.
The Latvian War Museum is a military museum in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The Latvian War Museum was established 15 October 1916 and collected material relating to the Latvian Riflemen and World War I.
