Foreigners Are Now Exempt From Entry And Stay Fees In Belarus Border Area

Foreigners will no longer have to pay for an entry pass, temporary stay and movement within Belarusian border areas. The president’s decree comes in force on Friday, 20 September.

“The decree mostly focuses on removal of state duty for issuance of the border area passes to foreigners,” says Anton Bychkovsky, the official representative of the State Border Committee.

Earlier, foreigners within the border area had to get a special pass at the border service and pay for it. The amount of state duty was 5.1 BYN (~2$,5). Those who travelled through the border area to international checkpoints were exempt from the procedure.

At the same time, tourists or foreigners who came to the border zone to visit relatives or must still receive a special pass from the border guards.

Foreigners can acquire passes at the territorial bodies of the border service or via the unified portal of e-services portal.gov.by using a phone or computer.

The innovation, the document says, will simplify the stay of foreigners in the border zone, and will also make this territory more attractive for tourists. More details on the border crossing rules for foreign citizens in Belarus can be found on the official website of the State Border Committee.
