2000 girls and women took part in the Beauty Run, female-only race, in Minsk on 8 March.
The event was timed to the International Women’s Day.
About half of the participants covered the distance of 2km; the other half ran 5 km.
On the International Women’s Day the run was joined by many Belarusian celebrities – Miss Belarus 2008 Olga Khizhinkova, 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Lubov Cherkashyna, TV host Anastasia Kosenkova, popular journalists and designers.
Champion runners Alina Talay and Maryna Arzamasava were there to support the participants of the run.
The first Beauty Run was held in Minsk last year.
The running event brought together participants of different ages and backgrounds.
All runners received medals and flowers at the finish line.
The winners were awarded money and presents from sponsors.
Those girls who prepared for the run with fantasy and had the most original costumes also got gifts from the organizers.
The Beauty Run actually went further than just fun. With its help, the organizers aimed to draw the attention to the problem of domestic violence in Belarus.
The run was be held under the slogan “Women against violence” and supported by the United Nations Population Fund.
The weather was nice and there seemed to be so positive spirit from the runners! A truly cool way to celebrate the International Women’s Day, isn’t it?
