BATE will miss Euro fall, letting Astana into Europa League

FC BATE Borisov drew 2-2 with FC Astana on Thursday. Belarusians thus failed to get to Europa League with the total score after two matches at 4-2 in favor of the champion of Kazakhstan.

BATE started confidently and could score already at 10th minute with Mirko Ivanić making an attempt – but failing. By the end of the first half an hour BATE managed to take advantage of their competitive advantage and  Gordeichuk’s long strike flew into the net.

Astana took revenge in the beginning of the second half and scored 1-1. BATE started pressing but all the attempts to score – by this time they had to do it at least three times – did not result well.

After a while Astana’s Patrick Twumasi cast spectators at “Borisov-Arena” in sadness by sending the second goal into BATE’s net.

BATE’s Igor Stasevich scored a late penalty consolation for the hosts, who also had Aleksei Rios sent off.  BATE undertook some more attacks, but the team seemed doomed. It was only Stasevich who kept fighting furiously, but was unable to strike another goal single-handedly.
