After 10 days of intense sports competition, which saw medals decided, records broken and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualification places obtained, the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 is over.
The major sports festival of the continent hosted by Belarus ended with a spectacular closing ceremony at the Dinamo Stadium on Sunday night, 30 June.
The ceremony started with the national anthem and paid tribute to the athletes’ records. The highlights were projected on a model of the National Library of Belarus.
Keeping the tradition of the Olympic Games, a parade of flags and medal winners gave an official start to the ceremony.

The honoring of volunteers, 8,000 from all over the world, can be described with one quote “You’re the heart and soul of the 2nd European Games!”
… and fireworks lit in their honor.
The country’s cutting-edge tech and IT solutions, its past and future, culture and history were a cross-cutting theme of the show.
Lesik the Games’ mascot and a huge zubr – a symbol of Belarus – set an atmosphere dedicated to the present times, modern Belarus.
The bison wished good luck to the new generation of Belarusians and a song about modern Minsk, city of start-ups, started to play.
