On 30 April, the courtin Brest handed down its verdict in the case of mass riots on the night of 9-10 August in Pinsk.
The court found all 14 persons involved in the so-called “Pinsk fight” guilty and sentenced:
36-year-old Bognavets Roman to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
20-year-old Bognat Daniel to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
31-year-old Gunko Grigory to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
28-year-old Sergey Lyazhenko to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
43-year-old Stanislav Mikhailov to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
44-year-old Movshuk Elena to 6 years in a general regime colony;
42-year-old Movshuk Sergey to 6,5 years in a maximum-security colony (he was under house arrest, taken into custody in the courtroom);
20-year-old Mostitsky David to 5.5 years in a maximum-security colony;
35-year-old Rogashchuk Vyacheslav to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
19-year-old Rubets Oleg to 5,5 years in a maximum-security colony;
37-year-old Igor Solovey to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
35-year-old Tereshko Alexander to 6,5 years in a maximum-security colony;
32-year-old Halimonchik Artem to 6 years in a maximum-security colony;
20-year-old Vyacheslav Shelemet to 5,5 years in a maximum-security colony.
According to the investigation, on 9 August last year, the accused participated in an unauthorized mass event near the building of the Pinsk City Executive Committee, grossly violated public order, staged riots, punched and kicked police officers, and attacked them with various objects – boards, sticks, street trash cans, fragments of sidewalk tiles and concrete parapet slabs, bottles, stones, hardware and rebars. They were also accused of deliberately destroying and damaging vehicles and other property belonging to the police. The victims in the case are 109 police officers, most of whom suffered harm that did not entail a short-term health disorder.
The court ordered the accused to pay about BYN 24 thousand compensation [~$9,377 / € 7,766] for material damage to organizations and entities. Almost 19 thousand [7,400 / € 6,146] of them are to the police. In favour of 93 victims, the accused will be charged about BYN 150 thousand [$58,600 / € 48,522] in compensation for moral damage.
According to the investigation, Lyazhenko broke a stick out of the bench and inflicted at least 10 blows on the police officers, then took out another stick and inflicted at least three more blows. Bognavets broke the tree-tie stake and threw it into the security forces. Halimonchik threw a plastic bottle and a stick at the policemen, struck at least two blows with a stick. Gunko hit the shield with his hand, then picked flowers on the flower bed, “thus making a weapon of crime,” and threw them at the security forces. He also threw a metal urn.
Shelemet threw a stone, a plastic bottle, a lit pack of cigarettes and a board at the policemen. Rogashchuk threw an unidentified object, tried to pull out the urn, hit the police officers with a stick at least five times. Rubets threw a handful of earth from a flower bed and a stone into the line of the policemen. Tereshko threw a stick and unidentified objects. Bognat threw a stone, a fragment of a broken glass bottle and an unidentified object. Mikhailov kicked the shields, lifted a concrete hemisphere and threw it towards the policemen. Mostitsky struck [a policeman?] four times with a stick.
Solovey called for dismantling the tiles, threw an unidentified object. Elena Movshuk approached the line of security officials and struck the shields with her hands, a wooden stake and a stick. Her husband Sergei threw a stick at policemen.
