The information was made public by Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei during an interview with the Financial Times.
The minister recalled that this year Belarus had launched a five-day visa-free travel program for citizens of 80 countries, including all EU countries.
“Our initiative is meant to facilitate Belarus-EU business contacts and promote the development of tourism. This is not the limit.
We consider to extend the duration of visa-free stay in Belarus up to 10 or even 30 days. But we will do it gradually, step by step,” Vladimir Makei stated.
He also remarked that the situation in this sphere will be analyzed and specific suggestions on the visa-free program extension will be submitted for consideration to the head of state.
Earlier there were reports about tourism officials working hard to prolong travellers visa-free stay to 10 days.
However, the registration period for tourists in Belarus may be increased from 5 to 10 days.
The changes are expected to come into force by the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019.
A total of 56,000 tourists from 68 countries visited the country visa free since October 13.
The majority of tourists came from Germany, Poland, Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom.
