A huge sand whirlwind was noticed by drivers on the M10 motorway in southern Belarus on Sunday, September 11.

Such whirlwinds range from small (half a meter wide and a few meters tall) to large and are comparable to tornadoes. Dust devils, however, form under sunny conditions during fair weather.
It should be noted that both phenomena are not charactericstic to Belarus. Still, a tornado hit the north of the country this summer.
The unusual phenomenon was observed in a village in Vitebsk region, where it destroyed several buildings, swept 20 roofs and smashed windows.
