How do you get a large brand to make you a personal product line? Well, probably if your name is on an A-list of celebrities. Or if you are the President of Belarus!
Belarus chocolate brand Kommunarka has recently made a chocolate called ‘President’.
The new product was mentioned by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko earlier this month.
Chocolate bars were delivered to shops on 15 February.
‘President’ is 72% cacao bitter chocolate. It is sugar-free and contains natural sweeteners – maltitol and stevia extract.
Each bar is decorated with traditional patterns.
It is sold in Kommunarka shops and costs 2.29 Belarusian rubles (~€1.23) for 90 grams.
Alexander Lukashenko mentioned the chocolate named after him at a big press conference he held for the Belarusian and foreign media on 3 February. He said it would be the only product branded by the head of state.
The President also shared the story behind the creation of the branded choc.
“We were once skiing with Medvedev (Dmitry Medvedev, the Prime Minister of Russia – note). He treated me with foreign chocolate. I told him I limit myself in sweet things. When I returned, I talked to Kommunarka’s specialists and told them to make the chocolate.”
It was a challenging task – chocolate had to be sweet but healthy.
“They suggested about 20 recipes and almost gave up. Finally, we found one that was suger-free but rather sweet”, Alexander Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader is known to be a fan of physical exercise and healthy eating. For example, he told journalists that he enjoys working at his farm and even shared the secret about how he lost 13 kg in half a year.
