Take part in the Belarusian rite Gukanne Vyasny on 18 March!
Gukanne Vyasny means ‘Calling of Spring’. Belarusian people used the ritual to draw warm days nearer by calling out for birds, the main carriers of warmth.
A spring welcoming celebration will be staged at the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Lifestyle on 18 March.
The guests of the museum will get acquainted with old traditions of welcoming of spring, take part in the re-enactment of the rite and see a fire show.
All participants will have a possibility to make a big traditional wreath and a symbol of the season – a little bird – with their own hands.
The entertainment will be accompanied with traditional songs, live music, dances and games.
The event starts at 13.00. Tickets are offered at 8Br (~ €4) for adults and 4Br (~ €2) for children of school age. Younger kids will be let in for free.
