Belarusian Rising Star. Sabalenka Named WTA Breakthrough Of Month

After a sizzling summer on the court Aryna Sabalenka was crowned WTA August’s breakthrough of the month.

Competing with four other candidates Darya earned 50 percent of fans votes that brought her a prestigious tennis award.

The Belarusian, whose ranking rose 14 places to a career-best World number 20, impressed the world with her superb performances.

Such top world players as Caroline Wozniacki, Karolina Pliskova, Caroline Garcia, Julia Goerges were knocked down by Sabalenka.

However, her biggest career achievement to date is her first title she won after defeating former top 10 Carla Suárez Navarro.

Shortly after that the 20-year-old recorded her best Grand Slam result so far.

She scored another top 10 scalp over two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.

Finally, she was the only player to take a set from eventual champion Naomi Osaka in a fourth round defeat at the US Open.

“My goal is to be better in my game, to be better in everything on which I work, in training and on court.

My goal is not some ranking or points. It’s all about winning, to get better with every game, every match,” Aryna shared her plans for the future.
