Police Reveals How Many Tourists Broke Visa-Free Rules

reysy_v_turciyu_yerch_tutby_phsl_20160716_yyd_7154For two weeks now tourists from 80 countries are visiting Belarus without a visa. About five minor violations of the visa-free travel rules were revealed by the Belarusian police during this time, the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Shunevich told the media. 

“We’ve recorded several violations during this period. We are not talking about dozens, there were no more than five”, Shunevich said.

He explained that 2-3 persons exceeded the 5-day term of stay and a couple of other instances concerned tourists travelling to Russia.

But generally, Igor Shunevich said, things “run smoothly and without faults”.

Belarusian police does not expect crime levels to rise after that the introduction of visa-free entry.

Belarus opened 5-day visa-free entry for citizens of 80 states starting 12 February.

First visa-free tourists arrived from China, Finland and Italy; and over 750 people have taken advantage of the new travel rules in the first 5 days since their introduction.
