At The Island Of Tears And In Fountains. How Belarus Celebrated Paratroopers’ Day

On 2 August the streets of Belarusian cities are full of strong men wearing blue striped sleeveless t-shirts and berets. Don’t be surprised, it’s just another Paratroopers’ Day in the country. 

Not your ordinary kind of holiday.

Annually, thousands of active and retired soldiers let their hair down in public. They meet up with friends, remember their fallen comrades and take a leap into fountains.
