The national organizing committee to prepare for the 2019 European Games was established in Belarus. A corresponding decree was signed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 9 January.
The national organizing committee is headed by the Belarusian Prime Minister.
The organizing committee includes heads of public bodies and organizations which will be involved in the preparations for this large-scale sports event.
The national organizing committee will coordinate the activities of all parties concerning the preparations for the 2019 European Games and approve a corresponding action plan within three months.
Belarus was chosen the host country of the European Games 2019 during the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees on 20-22 October.
According to the Belarusian sports officials, 2nd edition of the European Games Belarus will cost about $30-40 mln and will include 12-14 kinds of sports – based on the capacities of the already existing and planned sports infrastructure. Competitions will be held in Minsk and outside the city.
