Night Of Museums In Minsk. Where To Go, What To See And What’s The Price?

When darkness falls art becomes even more enigmatic and seductive. One night a year in May museums in Minsk open their doors and welcome visitors late into the evening and generally free of charge.

Night owls and art lovers, the Night of Museums is near!

In 2018, Museum Night falls on the evening of Saturday, 19 May. The perfect time to roam the Belarus capital’s gorgeous streets.

Most museums open at around sundown and close at around midnight, but be sure to check times for the museum you’re interested in.

TUT.BY jointly with BelarusFeed composed a brief guide around some museums participating in one of the most aticipated nights of the year.

When: 19  May, from 7pm to 2am

Where: the National Art Museum

Fee: 10 BYN (~$5)

Traditionally, the museum offers a rich entertaining program.

Video installations, “Aivazovsky and Marine painters” choreographic performances, as well as lectures on the definition of colour in different cultures.

Guests are also invited to listen to the meaning of colour in oriental art and its physics of colour.

Starting 8pm soul and electronic tunes will add more magic to the night atmosphere.

X-Change In Azgur Museum

When: 19 May, from 9pm till dawn

Where: Museum-workshop of Zair Azgur

What to expect? Various video installations, movies from Japan, Brazilm Hungary you highly likely never seen or heard of.

Those who want to dip into the world of special choreography or unusual music would be suprised with theremine, harp and organ compositions.

To stay your hunger, a food court with will work till the very morning.

Where: Ok16.

Fee: 15 BYN or 30 BYN for a single ticket to 4 sites: Zair Azgur Memorial Museum-Workshop, Art-Belarus Gallery, Cultural Incubator Ok16 and Cultural Center CORPUS).

Ok16 focuses on education.

Here one can listen to the lecture of Aleksei Naumchik “Documentary project Y Minsk on the changes of the city during the epoch change”.

Or visit lectures “Rethinking the 20th Century: Why and How” by Georgy Zaborsky, Kirill Skorynin’s lecture “Oktyabrskaya 2.0” and “Music and politics” by Maria Kolesnikova.

Theatre lovers would be able to enjoy ballet blanc”Swan Lake” from the troupe of the Belarusian State Academic Music Theater.

Vivaldi concert, performances and life-painting from the artist Zakhar Kudin are also in the list of entertainment activities.

Where: Ok16.

Fee: 2-4 BYN or 30 BYN for a single ticket to 4 sites: Zair Azgur Memorial Museum-Workshop, Art-Belarus Gallery, Cultural Incubator Ok16 and Cultural Center CORPUS).

For symbolic price the guests will be able see the “Art-Minsk” exposition and video experiment of Emil Zenko Themoment.

The Music Enlightenment” lecture of the Maximalism project and the musical performances of Blagodubski, Verasen, Deech band.

Besides, a flea market in the yard, creative workshops, a tea bar and food court work all night long.
