You Are Welcome To New Pedestrian Street In Minsk Centre

A new pedestrian area appeared in Minsk city centre. A part of Kamsamoĺskaja and Revaliucyjnaja streets has become a vehicle-free zone where you can take a walk and admire local attractions.

A nice place to hang out and have a good time.

Initially, the idea of closing off streets to turn them into a new cultural meeting point for locals and tourists appeared to be a hit.

However, shorlty after the renovation and official opening the result of the works sparked backlashash and a lot of of disputes.

People are already weighing in with criticism about the street’s aesthetics and usability.

Road posts with chains, shallow sewerage, benches layout and expensive flower pots raised a lot of eyebrows.

Locals have also started to feel the negative sides of the city’s initiative. Heavy rains have repeadetedly flooded the streets turning them into a real mess.

Nonetheless, there are people who still find the new location a nice place to rest and hang out with friends and family.

The walking street will be piloted for some time before further adjustments are made.

Well, time will show whether it become a long-standing attraction or just another controversial spot in the city the Minskers have to come to terms with.
