Minsk National Airport is introducing a self-service bag drop system to provide passengers with a faster, more efficient check-in process, belnovosti.by reports.

The self-service bag drop system in Minsk Airport will be up and running in the near future (the exact date is not available).
The innovation will allow passengers to check in for the flight and hand in their luggage without the assistance of airport personnel.
The self-bag drop technologies are planned to be implemented in Belarus’ regional airports.
Besides, the airport of the country is currently working on the renovation of the existing terminal complex.
This will result in a larger capacity, higher efficiency for the airport, airlines and convenience of passengers.
Major construction works will start after the 2nd European Games 2019 and finish by the ice hockey championship in 2021.
One in four million
Minsk National Airport has welcomed its 2018 four-millionth passenger on 12 November. He arrived on Belavia’s Minsk-Prague flight.
Last year the airport celebrated its four-millionth passenger on 19 December. A record number of passengers were recorded for the first time in the history of civil aviation in Belarus.
To compare, in 2017 the Minsk National Airport welcomed over 4.1 million passengers. In January-September 2018 passenger traffic went beyond 3.47 million people.
At present, the construction of the second runway is underway, it is expected to be commissioned by 2019. The second runway will allow to handle long-range flights and increase passenger traffic up to 40 million people a year.
