Program Of Minsk Jazz Evenings 2017 Announced

Jazz Evenings at Minsk Town Hall will take place for the 5th time on 10, 17 and 24 June. Musicians from Belarus, Chile, France, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, the USA and the Netherlands will perform at the concerts.

All performances will begin at 20:00 and are free.

Started back in 2013, the jazz evenings quickly became a landmark event for Minsk.

The program of the fifth season combines classical jazz with  vocal and instrumental performances of different styles and directions – ethno jazz, swing, oriental jazz, fusion, soul jazz, rhythm and blues, contemporary and others.

10 June – American fusion and Belarusian duo

The first of the Saturday’s concerts will be headlined by an American jazz fusion and blues guitarist Scott Henderson.

The “#1 Jazz Guitarist” by Guitar World magazine will perform together with French musicians Archibald Lagonier (bass) and Roman Labaye (drums).

Performances by Harrison Young, a singer and multi-instrumentalist  from New York City currently living in the Netherlands, and ethno jazz duo Agata and a quartet VIP-JAZZ by ANDREY SLAVINSKY from Belarus will follow.

17 June – Best jazz performer of Latin America and concert orchestra from Belarus

On 17 June an outstanding bass player, composer and producer Christian Galvez from Chile will perform on stage with the trumpeter Christian Couturrufo (Chile) and drummer Nazar Rejepov (Turkmenistan).

Christian Galvez was twice the winner of the Altazor award as the best jazz performer of Latin America (in 2000 and 2004), and a nominee of the American Music Awards 2005.

Performances of the concert orchestra of Boris Myagkov (Belarus) and “The Trio of Constantine Goryachey” (Belarus) will close the program of the second concert.

24 June – American soul and Tunisian lute player

Visitors of the final concert of the festival will listen to Cleveland Jones, a singer and songwriter from the USA, “the true embodiment of soul and jazz and always a class act”.

Music by Jones is a symbiosis of gospel, rhythm and blues, funk and traditional jazz. The musician is the owner of remarkable vocals and the winner of the title “Discovery of the Year” from SoulTracks.com.

The evening will continue with performances by Nabil Khemir, a composer, lute and guitar player from Tunisia, and two Belarusian bands – Minsk Voices and Premier Orchestra.
