The National airport Minsk and Belarusian national airline Belavia were both awarded 8th place in the airport and airline punctuality ratings for 2017. The ranking is released by the UK-based air travel intelligence company OAG.
The ranking is updated twice a year. The latest edition features world’s most punctual airlines and airports from October 2016 to March 2017.
According to OAG, 90.6% of flights in Minsk airport departed or arrived on time. Belavia performed 88.8% of arrivals on time. “On-time” in this case is defined as departures and arrivals (for airports) and arrivals (for airlines) that take place strictly less than 15 minutes after schedule.
Airlines and airports with punctuality of 90-100% receive five stars in the rating. Four stars are awarded for punctuality of 87.5-89.9%, three stars – for 83-87.4%, two stars for 80-82.9% punctuality.
Airlines and airports with punctuality of 75 to 79,9% are given one star, while those less than 75% remain non-rated.
So OAG gave five stars to Minsk airport and 4 stars to Belavia.
Other 5-star airports are Paris Beauvais-Tille Airport, the Asian Tokushima and Kochi, Newcastle, Dortmund, Birmingham Airport, Hilo in North America, Cardiff, Surabaya and Aracaju.
5-star winners among airlines are Safair, Jazeera Airways and Air Baltic.
