The Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Belarus and Viber have launched a joint initiative on safe migration.
The service will be available 24/7.
Symbolically, a partnership agreement was signed in Minsk on 30 July, the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
IOM Belarus is a new way of distributing regular tips on human trafficking, safe migration and staying overseas.
eronika Kesova, Executive Officer, Project Manager at Viber Media, commeted on the initiative:
“This messenger is among the most popular in Belarus. It is used by more than half of the country’s population and by many Belarusians living abroad.
Apart from its direct function of helping people stay in touch, it also allows communicating problems and getting the necessary help.
We hope that the community will help users avoid emergency situations and get adequate information about safe travelling abroad.”
The project is seen as a considerable contribution to fight human trafficking in Belarus.
It will cover larger audience and become an innovative addition to existing hotlines on safe migration (8-801-201-5555 and 113).
