Radical measures to develop the IT industry will be taken in Belarus in the near future, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko stated.
The announcement was made during the opening of the Belarusian-Vietnamese business forum on 27 June.
“In the near future, literally this summer, our country will take drastic measures to develop the IT sector,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The head of state was talking about a breakthrough decree, that will significantly change working conditions for IT companies, first of all for product companies.
“I met with people from IT. There will be a boom in IT technologies in Belarus. We’ve passed the first stage when clients came to us [Belarusian software developers – note BF], ordered something and we worked for them,” the president said in spring.
In March Alexander Lukashenko visited several IT companies in Minsk together with the newly appointed head of the Hi-Tech Park Belarus.
The president supported the idea about turning Belarus into an IT-country.
